How to make an AI avatar video
In SendShort, open AI Studio and stay on the Avatar Studio tab. You need one photo and a script. The steps below use the labels that you see in the app.
1. Create the avatar
Click Create Avatar. Give the avatar a name and add one reference photo (PNG, JPG or WEBP). Use a clear, front-facing photo of one person.
2. Add your scenes
Click Add scene for each part of your script. In each scene, type the text and pick a text-to-speech voice, or upload your own audio.
3. Generate the video
Pick an avatar style: normal, close-up or circle. Then click Generate Video. The button shows the number of scenes. You get a 9:16 video at 1080p.
4. Finish it in the editor
Open the video in the editor to add captions, B-roll and music. Then export it.
What is the AI avatar video generator?
Avatar Studio is one of the two tabs in SendShort AI Studio. The app describes it in one line: "Turn any photo into a talking AI avatar video."
You make an avatar from one photo of a person. Then you write the script in scenes. In each scene the avatar speaks your text with a text-to-speech voice, or it speaks with audio that you recorded. SendShort puts the scenes together into one vertical video.
You do not need a camera, a studio or a second take. To change a line, you change the scene and generate the video again.

Avatar Studio options
- Photo: one reference photo in PNG, JPG or WEBP. One person, clear and front-facing.
- Script: one or more scenes. Each scene has its own text or audio.
- Voice: text to speech with about 100 voices. You can set the speed and the pitch.
- Own audio: upload a recording for a scene instead of text to speech.
- Avatar style: normal, close-up or circle.
- Output: a 9:16 vertical video at 1080p, the size for TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels.
- After you generate: open the video in the editor to add captions, B-roll and music.
Avatar Studio or Photo to Video?
AI Studio has a second tab, Photo to Video. It is the quick option: one photo talks with one audio track. Use Avatar Studio when you want a named avatar, a script in several scenes and a choice of style.
Plans and Credits
AI avatars are part of the Professional and Business plans: from Professional ($29/month). Starter does not include AI avatars. Business includes more avatar videos than Professional.
When you use all the avatar videos of your plan, you can pay with Credits. An AI avatar video costs 150 Credits for each started 30 seconds. For example, a 45-second video uses two started blocks of 30 seconds, so it costs 300 Credits.
Professional includes 500 Credits a month and Business 1,500. Credits reset each month. A Credit pack is 300 Credits for $9.
Credits never unlock a feature that your plan does not include. On Starter, you cannot use Credits for AI Studio. See all plans on the pricing page. You can get a refund within 24 hours of payment.

Can I make an AI avatar from one photo?
Yes. Avatar Studio needs one reference photo (PNG, JPG or WEBP). Use a clear, front-facing photo of one person. SendShort cannot make an avatar without a photo.
Can the avatar speak in my own voice?
Yes, with your own recording. Record the script and upload the audio for a scene. The avatar speaks with that audio. SendShort does not clone voices. If you do not want to record, pick one of about 100 text-to-speech voices.
What size is the video?
Avatar Studio makes a 9:16 vertical video at 1080p. This size fits TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels.
Which plan do I need for AI avatars?
Professional or Business, from $29/month. Starter does not include AI avatars, and Credits do not add the feature to Starter.
Can I add captions to an avatar video?
Yes. Open the video in the editor to add captions, B-roll and music. Then export the video.
Can I use a photo of another person?
Only use a photo that you have the right to use, for example your own photo or a photo of a person who agreed to it.
